"When I get sad. I stop being sad, and be awesome instead."
Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in September
Ba de ya - never was a cloudy day
Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in September
Ba de ya - golden dreams were shiny days
"To do anything truly worth doing, I must not stand back shivering and thinking of the cold and danger, but jump in with gusto and scramble through as well as I can."

“There is no beauty in youth … Beauty begins where youth leaves off. I am not decrying youth. I love it. It is fresh, charming, gay, inspirational. Youth works hard and laughs easily. It is always surrounded with the promise of beauty. But always that promise is in the future ... Only when time has laid its softening hand on youth — when experience, love, suffering, living have ripened the green peach — can there be completion and loveliness.”

"You know, a lot of people have various definitions about what jazz is, or what jazz isn't. And after all these years, I've come to the conclusion that all music, if it's played well is good. If it's not played well ... it's not so good. Sometimes, we come up with funny stuff by using our fantasy, and so forth. So now, we're going to try something a little different. [Breakdown.]"

One night to be confused
One night to speed up truth
We had a promise paid
Four hands and then away
Both under influence
We had a divine sense
To know what to say
Mind is a razor blade
To call for hands of above
to lean on
Wouldn't be good enough
for me, no
One night of magic rush
The start a simple touch
One night to push and scream
And then relief
Ten days of perfect tunes
The colors red and blue
We had a promise made
We were in love
This could battle out the Troy/Donald Glover look, I think. |
"Away she hurried, not beautiful, not supremely brilliant, but filled with something that took the place of both qualities — something best described as a profound vivacity, a continual and sincere response to all that she encountered in her path through life."
(Sorry, there are no subtitles on this video. A little context: The middle-aged man is a professor of a French high school for delinquents. He just got fired, because of his "contemporary" teaching methods, which involve teaching the youngsters how to sing à la Sound of Music. Poor guy, he basically changed their whole overlook on life, gave them new hope, yada yada. However, as he's leaving, the children start singing and flying paper airplanes with inspirational messages on them.)

I'm working, I sweat, but it's all good
I'm breaking my back but it's all good
'Cause i know i'll get it back
Yeah, i know your hands will clap
And I'm working,
Yeah, i'm working
To make butter for my piece of bun
And if you say I'm not OK
We mus-t go
If you say there ain't no way that i could know
If you say i aim too high from down below
Well, say you're not 'cause when i'm gone
You'll be callin' but i won't be at the phone
So take a shower, shine your shoes, brother
Ain't no time to lose, brother, we're about to booze, brother
We're about to throw a celebration in honor of separation
Before we have to say goodbye
'Cause I woulda never made it through without each and every one of y'all
I woulda never made it through without the Adderall
I woulda never made it through without my Ray-Bans
No teacher's lookin' in my eyes
'Cause I would rather relax in my castle, havin' class was a hassle
Hopin' this razzle-dazzle pays off when they pass me my cap and my tassel
But as the hours and the minutes diminish
I think about the business that we left unfinished
Like who is gonna claim all this random jewelry that's on my nightstand?
I guess I know why they call it a one-night stand
But even if you can't remember names
If you could remember everything, it wouldn't be the same ...
Ayo my life is like a picture of a lot of liquor
An exotic mixture of elixir and a sorority mixer
But this here, will probably be the last time
I can hit on so many girls without spending my last dime
Thankfully I passed wines, what did I take wines for?
Nobody ever used any of that on wine tours
But I guess that's the common theme
Everything you know right now will one day all just be a dream
And these faces that are glowing are going to be unknown
When the place to which you're going is what you will call a home
And you'll forget about the Palms, and all of the sake bombs
But I hope you don't forget about us
So even if you've lost every single note from class
Hopefully you come across the notes that we used to pass
And I know you will have thoughts of what we did in the stacks
I gotta say, your brain is really worth an A+
So this is dedicated to a stadium of dissipated hockey crowds
Dedicated to an empty table at Souvlaki House
Hopin' that you call me, when you get out to Wall Street
I don't ever wanna lose touch ...
"Anyone who has gumption knows what it is, and anyone who hasn't can never know what it is. So there is no need of defining it."
